Jessica Nelson, DVM
Veterinarian - Lake Norman

Dr. Nelson grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia and received her undergraduate degree at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. She joined the Stand For Animals team in 2022.

• First pet: "I got a Jack Russel Terrier when I was 3 years old, named Sissy. She was with me until my senior year of high school. She loved to go swimming with us."
• The most admirable thing about my pet: "Crash has been with me since I was a freshmen in high school. He has helped me get through undergrad, vet school, and my first few years post-graduation. He is getting older now, but he still plays and enjoys going to work with me.
• My pet loves it when I: "Do yoga. Getting on the floor means attention time for the pets, no matter what you are doing."
• My favorite part of being a vet at Stand For Animals: "Helping people provide proper care for their pets when times or finances are tough.
