FIV/FeLV Combo
As the name implies, a combination (combo) test, tests a cat for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). With only a small blood sample, the test will tell whether or not your cat has contracted FeLV or FIV.
This test is necessary as it reveals important information about your cat. FeLV has no known cure and is fatal, so you will want to know if your cat contracted it.
Unlike FeLV, FIV is not fatal although it is highly contagious. Many cats live good lives with FIV, although because there is no vaccine for FIV, an FIV-positive cat will need to be the only cat in their household, or only around other FIV-positive cats.
Sedation or anesthesia is not necessary to perform a combo test.
The results of the combo test are revealed quickly and will be shared with you while you are at the office.
